PUPILS and staff at a Weston school are celebrating after finding out they are the 24th most improved in the country.Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College achieved the accolade for the improvement in pupils' results over the last four years.Headteacher Lynda Heaven-Woolley, who took over the reins just three years ago, puts the school's success down to 'a winning team' and 'not compromising on low standards'.The table of the top 200 improved schools was released last week by the Department for Education and Skills. In 2003, 19 per cent of pupils achieved five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths, and by 2006 this had risen to 39 per cent.Mrs Heaven-Woolley said: "We set out three years ago with a high emphasis on high standards, respect and courtesy. The success is down to people, the pupils, the staff and the parents who have worked hard and never taken their eyes off the ball."Wyvern Community School also hit the top 200 list. The number of pupils achieving five GCSEs grade C or above increased from 17 per cent in 2003 to 34 per cent in 2006.
