A 12-YEAR-OLD boy from Weston has died while spending the summer holidays with his dad in France.Jacques Burton-Lawl suffered a massive asthma attack and despite paramedics spending over an hour trying to revive him, he died on Sunday at his father's home near Bordeaux. The youngster, of Moorland Road, was due back in Weston on Friday (Sept 1) for the start of term at Broadoak Community School this week. His mum Melanie flew out to France with Jacques' 18-year-old brother Thomas and sister Leah, aged 16, to bring him back for a funeral at Weston Crematorium. After the service on September 11, half the youngster's ashes will be scattered in France and half in Weston.Grandparents Betty and Bob Burton, of Locking Castle, say the entire family is devastated by Jacques' death.Mr Burton said: "Everybody loved him. He was a gorgeous young boy who was fascinated by nature and wildlife. "At his home he used to keep snakes and frogs and grew his own row of tomatoes."Jacques spent a lot of time with us when he was off school ill and loved playing around our pond."To celebrate his first teenage birthday his mum had booked him a surprise wildlife weekend with Ray Mears."Mrs Burton said: "Jacques had the most vivid imagination and was a great storyteller. He would tell me how he had seen a 30m long anaconda in the park or caught a four feet long fish in the lake."Unfortunately asthma runs in the family, and he also suffered with bad eczema."Last year he had a severe attack and was left unconscious but luckily doctors at Weston General Hospital saved him."It's incredibly sad. He loved spending the holidays with his dad, Louis, and his mum had just bought his new school uniform."Jacques' other grandparents, John and Judith Lawl, said: "The more you got to know Jacques, the more you realised he was a person with hidden depths."He was a very loving boy and courageous in coping with the challenges his health problems forced on him.
