Scouts appeal for help

A WESTON scout group is asking for a hand to help it fix the leaking roof where it meets and bring its facilities up to scratch.
The 1st Milton Scouts meets in Drysdale Close, but it has had a list of problems with the building where the 120 members get together.
The largest group in the scouting district, the cubs, beavers, scouts and explorers have had to put up with cardboard-style insulation on the roof, which also has polystyrene tiles, making it cold in the winter.
The roof is also leaking water in the kitchen and it is likely to cost a minimum of £8,000 to improve things.
The scout group also has plans drawn up for extra doors, an improved communal space and disabled facilities and the installation of showers, but that would cost even more.
Group scout leader Grant Cameron said: “We would like to renovate the whole building, but families are not particularly wealthy at the moment.
“But we could do with some help from parents, as the facilities could be so much better.”
Anyone who could help organise fund-raising activities or help the group in any other way is asked to contact Grant via firstname.lastname@example.org
