FOOTBALL fans in Weston are being targeted by clampers who charge drivers hundreds of pounds, according to one Seagulls fan. Julienne Beckett parked opposite Winterstoke Decorators Supply Ltd on Winterstoke Road before making her way to see Weston Football Club's biggest match in 20 years against Bristol City Football Club. More than 1,000 fans attended the match earlier this month. When she returned to where she had parked her car, after seeing Weston go down 2-0 to the Bristol side, it was no longer there. She was told by a member of the public it had been clamped and taken away to the Europark, not far from where she had left her car. When Julienne confronted the clampers to ask for her car to be returned she was asked to stump up a massive £325.Julienne accepts she was in the wrong and that there are signs telling people they cannot park. She added: "I'm sure it was no coincidence people were getting clamped at such a big game."Weston Football Club director Paul Macey said: "It is an unfortunate situation but there is nothing we can do. We have a car park and we will be looking into putting up signs along Winterstoke Road telling people how to get to it.
