A NEW project which celebrates the women of Weston has taken the town by storm.
Weston’s Top Model is in its third competition week, so there are only six girls left in the running for the winning spot.
Each week, the girls face a new theme for their hair and make-up, and this time round they had glamour week.
The competition reaches its climax on September 12 at the live final, which is to be held at the Winter Gardens in front of 600 guests.
When the competition first started, organisers from XOXO in Meadow Street, Weston Hair Studio in Alexandra Parade and Rosie’s mobile Hair and Beauty Spa, were overwhelmed by the number of people who entered.
More than 300 ladies from Weston applied to be part of the competition.
The non-profit event was designed to promote small businesses, either to take part in the show as guest judges or provide photo shoot locations or props. At the moment, 63 Weston businesses are involved in the competition.
Event organiser Aaron Al-Jeryan of XOXO said: “All models are real women, we have not got types as we want to promote positive healthy girl power.
“It’s fun, new and positive. Some themes are sensitive to address real issues people are facing so it not just about skinny women saying ‘look at me’, this is real to boost our local community.”
The winner will get £250 cash, and will be the face of several independent businesses in Weston as well as the face of Weston Community TV for a year.
The final six, who all go for elimination this week, are: Abbi Sanderson, Amy Weaver, Antonia Newton, Jordan Butler, Lauren Jones and Natasha Sykes.
Voting starts every Monday from 7pm at www.westontopmodel.co.uk
