An East Huntspill animal charity has saved a heron from starvation in the cold winter weather.
The large male bird was found by two members of the public who took it back to their kitchen before alerting Secret World Wildlife Rescue.
On arrival at the charity’s headquarters in New Road the heron was put in a casualty pen with a heat lamp and was fed some fish.
Animal carer Sarah Tingvoll said: “It has been a busy start to the year for Secret World.
“Many animals have struggled to stay alive during the winter, but thankfully caring members of the public have saved many of them by calling us.
“There is a happy ending for this heron as he is expected to make a full recovery.”
Once the heron has made a full recovery he will be returned to the wild.
