YOUNG animal lovers got a close-up look at some of British wildlife’s best-loved creatures during an open weekend.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill opened its doors throughout the bank holiday for the latest in a series of summer open days.

Young nature enthusiasts got a chance to see animals such as hedgehogs, tortoises, foxes, owls, ferrets and more.

Secret World invited donations from visitors to go towards its multi-million pound appeal to build a new animal hospital at the New Road site.
