A kingfisher which suffered a nasty head trauma is set to return to the wild after being treated at a rescue charity.
The colourful bird accidently flew into a window in North Somerset and was found stunned with its eyes shut on the ground.
Fearing the worst, the homeowner contacted Secret World Wildlife Rescue and the bird was taken in for assessment.
Luckily for the bird there were no long-term injuries.
Animal carer Dan Bryant said: “There was a slight trauma to the bird’s head but it did not sustain any other injuries.
“We will place it in one of our flight aviaries to make sure it is able to fly.
“If that is a success, we will release it back into the wild.”
Since January, the East Huntspill charity has admitted three kingfishers.
