A SUSPECTED sexual assault has left police appealing for witnesses.

A woman was walking her dog through a field between Frank Foley Parkway and the Mulholland Way in Highbridge on Tuesday at about 11am when she was approached from behind by a lone man, who assaulted her before running off.

A police spokesman said: “The victim says that she saw a number of people in the area when she entered the field and we are keen for them to contact us, particularly a black man who was with a woman and child. We believe these people may have useful information to help our enquiries.”

The suspect is described as a 5ft 10ins, white, of medium build and had stubble. He was wearing a burgundy hooded top, grey tracksuit bottoms and white training shoes, and it is believed he fled in the direction of Tesco.

Anyone with information on the attack can call Taunton CID on 101 quoting reference 63474/14, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 08005 55111 or online at
