SHEDS and fencing were destroyed in a suspected arson attack in the early hours of the morning.

Avon Fire and Rescue and the police were called at about 2.17am this morning (Fri) to a property in Parsons Road in Highbridge after reports of a fire.

On arrival, a fire crew from Burnham discovered a large blaze at the rear of homes in the road which had consumed several sheds and fencing.

The size of the blaze led them to call for another fire engine.

Two sheds, one brick bin store and 20 metres of fencing were destroyed in the fire, while two homes were externally damaged by heat.

An adjoining garage block was also damaged.

The cause is thought to be arson, and a police investigation has begun.

Anyone with information should contact Avon and Somerset Constabulary on 101.
