A SILVER medal and a triumphant return home was enjoyed by a Locking schoolgirl who competed in the British Transplant Games.
Ellen Russ, aged 15, underwent a life-saving kidney transplant last December – just eight months before competing in a series of athletic events at the Sheffield games.
The versatile Worle Community School student competed in table tennis, badminton, and sprints, both on the running track and in the swimming pool.
Ellen’s mum Debbie Chalk said: “We had a great time, it was very inspirational seeing adults and children who have had transplants competing at all levels. Ellen was part of the Bristol Children’s Renal team and the team won nine medals in total.
“Ellen managed to win a silver medal in one of her events, the 100m breast stroke, so we are very pleased.”
