TWO poets put pencil to paper to pen a piece of prose.
Sisters Lindsay and Rachel Perry, students at Hugh Sexey Middle School, both received distinctions in a speaking of verse and prose competition.
Lindsay, aged 12, was awarded a grade one, while 10-year-old Rachel was awarded a grade two for her entry.
For the exam, both girls had to memorise two pieces of poetry and were examined on how well they interpreted the verse, as well as their vocal technique. The girls performed their poems at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
The youngsters are also drama fans and will be taking part in Winscombe Youth Theatre's forthcoming production of Alice in Wonderland.
