An online campaign has been launched to raise an extra £5,000 for improvements to a Weston skate park.

The Mercury reported last month how Hutton Moor Skate Park, in Hutton Moor Road, would receive £75,000 from Sport England to secure its future for the next 15 years.

Ahead of the work starting, the Weston Skate Park Association is hoping to raise at least £5,000 more.

The current park is at the end of its useful life, and it will be re-designed to accommodate skateboards, BMX bikes, roller-blades and scooters.

The 15-year-old park is run by Weston Town Council, which will soon begin a procurement process for a company to do the work.

It is hoped construction will start in February.
