A LEADING property developer says he could bring a snow dome or a retirement village to the outskirts of Weston.Mead Realisation's managing director Derek Mead, who has built hundreds of houses across the South West, wants to build leisure facilities on some of his family's land behind RAF Locking.Mr Mead exclusively revealed to the Weston & Somerset Mercury this week that he wants to hold a public consultation, similar to the one for RAF Locking held by designers New Masterplanning recently, to decide what to do with the area which runs from the back of the camp to Puxton. He said: "We could build a snow dome there, like the one in Milton Keynes, or even a retirement village."I want the public to participate in the decision. If members of the public want better leisure facilities it is up to them. But it is also about getting planning permission."The first thing we have to do is carry out an environmental impact study in the Spring. Then we will find out what the public wants us to build and then put in for planning permission."Earlier this year Mr Mead, who owns Meadow Mead Homes, said he wanted to build a road off the A370 to link up with the former RAF camp which is going to be developed with homes and businesses. To keep the traffic flowing he is also proposing slip roads off the motorway so commuters could avoid the motorway roundabout and go straight onto Somerset Avenue or the A370. Mr Mead also wants to extend Diamond Batch so drivers would have a quicker route to Worle Parkway station.
