Members of a women's social group have teamed up to raise hundreds of pounds for a South West charity.

The Weston-super-Mare Ladies Friendship Group served up homemade cakes with a cup of tea and coffee to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The ladies welcomed people from around the area to have a break at the Clarence Park Baptist Church, in Walliscote Road.

Group secretary Zillah Jones said the event was ‘fantastic’ and was a huge success.

She added: “We raised about £350 which will go to CHSW.

“We had quite a few people come in and out over the course of the day who enjoyed a cup of tea and a homemade cake.”

The Ladies Friendship Group is always looking for new members to join its club.

The group meets every Monday evening at 7.45pm at the Clarence Park Baptist Church.
