A VILLAGE group has launched a history project with a difference to commemorate World War One.

Tim Moreman has created a Facebook page to remember the soldiers from Wedmore who gave their lives during the war.

On the anniversary of the soldier’s deaths, Dr Moreman sends out a status update with their names, ages and a brief biography.

More than 400 men were sent to fight from the village but 60 did not return, and Dr Moreman is hoping his research will unveil the fate of each one.

The project, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will culminate in an exhibition in November and a book on the village’s contribution to the war effort.

Help from local families is needed to fill in the gaps, including medals, letters, photographs or background information.

All assistance will be fully acknowledged at the exhibition and the final book.

If you have any information which may be of use, contact Dr Moreman on
