RESIDENTS against a proposed caravan site between Cheddar and Draycott have started an online e-protest.Campaign group Save Open Land In Draycott (SOLID) has created a website for people to submit their opposition on a virtual petition against the planning application for a caravan park at Nylands crossroads.SOLID spokeswoman Sue Wall said: "Draycott councillors decided not to support the application, however Cheddar Parish Council gave its support, ignoring the views of the majority of its parishioners and electorate."We want to make sure that everyone knows we are not going to give up now. The battle is far from over. Since the decision by Cheddar councillors on March 6, we have had loads of people contact us who are so angry."The group has already gathered 350 signatures on its more traditional paper petition at Draycott Post Office and would like more people to sign their web-based one at www.solid2007.comSue added: "One of my major concerns is that no wildlife survey has been done by the applicant, so we are now looking at inviting wildlife organisations and experts to get involved with the campaign."The planning application now has to go before Sedgemoor District Council's planning committee for a decision.
