Somerset County Council has given the green light to move a learning disabilities service to a new, not-for-profit organisation.

Dimensions UK has been awarded the new contract.

The move has come after more young people opted to get their support from non-council providers.

Services including long-term residential care and employment support are among those which support around 900 people.

Cllr William Wallace said: “A huge amount of work has gone into these proposals which show a major new chapter for these services.”
