A SOMERSET environmental group has been nominated for a major national honour.
The Somerset Biofuel Project is in the running for a prize in the sustainable category at the 2007 Public Servant of the Year Awards.
The project, set up in 2004, implemented a renewable energy strategy, which lead to Somerset County Council becoming the UK coordinating partner of the EU-funded BioEthanol for Sustainable Transport.
The team have since been able to integrate a number of bio-ethanol vehicles into key public and private sector fleets.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on October 16.
