People across the county basked in the sunshine to celebrate the first annual Somerset Garden Day last weekend.

The event saw people of all ages host parties, barbecues and activities from the comfort of their own garden.

Somerset Garden Day aimed to encourage people to spend a day enjoying their gardens with neighbours, friends and family.

People, businesses and institutions across Somerset got involved with the event on Sunday, with support coming from all parts of the county.

Somerset Garden Day ambassador Lia Leendertz said: “There has been an overwhelming response to the first Somerset Garden Day, with so many people across the county getting involved, both young and old.

“We have even had people from up and down the country asking if we can bring the idea to their counties and we are already thinking about how we can make Somerset Garden Day even bigger and better in 2018.”
