SOMERSET’S much-loved cider makers Thatchers will feature in tonight’s episode of BBC Two series Harvest 2015.

The show, presented by MasterChef star Gregg Wallace, along with Phillippa Forrester and James Manning, starts at 8pm.

The team will meet three members of the Thatchers cider making dynasty: John Thatchers, his son Martin and grandchildren Eleanor and Peter.

Following filming at Thatchers Myrtle Farm site in Sandford, the show will take a detailed look at the site’s orchards and harvesting and crafting process.

Manager director Martin Thatcher said: “Filming started at the beginning of the year so that the programme can follow the lifecycle of the orchards. We’ve got 400 acres of apple orchard and taking care of the trees is an all-year-round job. They look stunning at this time of year in the autumn when the fruit is being harvested, and that’s a result of the intense care and attention that we give them throughout the year.”

Somerset-based Indian cookery specialist Bini Ludlow also features in tonight’s programme.
