A MUSICIAN has penned a song about Birnbeck Pier's crumbling state in the hope of raising awareness of its decline and raising money for groups aiming to restore it.
Barry Walsh wrote the song Save Me after being shocked by the poor state of the landmark when he returned to Weston from Wales earlier in the month.
He plans to release the song, with the money raised going towards the Friends Of The Old Pier Society and the newly-formed Save Birnbeck Pier Group.
The organisations hope to merge in the near future and become the Birnbeck Regeneration Trust.
Meanwhile Pier View has been reopened offer drinks in return for donations over the weekend, raising more than £370 in the process.
It will be open again this weekend from 9am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
