A CONVENTION for lovers of popular game character Sonic the Hedgehog will be held on Weston's Grand Pier.

Around 200 people are expected to visit the attraction to celebrate their love of the iconic blue hedgehog.

The event will be held on Saturday, with various video game and costume competitions. There will also be exhibitions, special guests and a Skype interview with Mike Pollock, who voices Doctor Eggman in the franchise.

There will also be an art workshop and new merchandise on sale.

Sonic the Hedgehog was created by Sega in 1991, and his peaceful life is often interrupted by Doctor Eggman. Sonic and friends are forced to foil his plans for world domination.

The event runs from 10am-6.30pm.
