WESTON’S Sovereign Centre has pulled off a second coup in as many weeks by welcoming a new fashion store to the town.
Men and women’s fashion retailer Blue Inc is set to be unveiled as the latest new business in the centre, and will open on Friday October 29.
The fashion chain has 50 stores nationwide but none in the South West, with the nearest branch being in Cardiff. The new store is expected to create at least ten new jobs.
The 3000 square feet unit five was previously occupied by clothing store D2, who stopped trading three weeks ago.
The shop is already being fitted, and will be opened ahead of the busy Christmas trading period.
Nick Cooke, Centre Manager of the Sovereign Shopping Centre, said the centre was delighted to be able to welcome Blue Inc to Weston, where it would be able to offer the affordable, young fashion range that the town has lacked.
He said: “Blue Inc will be a great addition to Weston’s limited fashion offer and we are delighted that we have been able to secure another big named operator in what remains a very difficult letting market.
“We’re delighted we’ve got some teenage fashion, which I think the town lacked. They’re quite an upcoming brand, despite having a trading history for about 50 years.
“Obviously we’re disappointed that D2 closed and the saddest thing is that the staff don’t know what will happen next. We’re hoping that the majority of the staff at D2 will offered jobs at Blue Inc.
“We’re very happy about the new store though, it’s just another reason for people to come here and not to Cribbs Causeway or Cabot Circus.”
Blue Inc’s Managing Director Steven Cohen commented; “We are delighted to be launching Blue Inc in Weston-super-Mare. We are also pleased to be employing a large amount local staff and support the local community.”
The store will be offering a ten per cent discount off purchases in the store on the weekend of November 6 and 7.
