A Weston-super-Mare officer was among the award winners recognised by Avon and Somerset Constabulary for going above and beyond in their line of work.

The Be Proud awards recognised men and women from the force who have gone above and beyond in their lines of work.

Michael was nominated eight times for the Special Constable of the Year award.

A police spokesman said the nominations ‘reinforced’ Michael as ‘invaluable support’.

They added: “He is described in his nomination as the first out the door to any incident.

“Michael takes ownership of each job he is given and he embraces every opportunity to learn and help others.

“He goes above and beyond both in the hours he commits to the role and in the quality of work he produces when on shift.”

Michael is part of the Special Constabulary, a voluntary branch of the police force.
