A CLUB which provides activities for children with special needs has celebrated its first anniversary.

Somerset Time For Youth is a voluntary group based in West Huntspill, and held a party at the weekend at Burnham Baptist Church which raised more than £400.

Treasurer Jenny Edwards said: “The club is very important because there is nothing in Burnham for children with special needs and it gives support to families.

“It is so relaxing and other parents and carers can talk to each other.

“At other schools, parents talk at
the school gates. But a lot of special needs schools have buses to take the children there.

“So with our club, parents can get together and talk.”

The party included a tombola, raffle and a cake sale to raise funds.

The club is held every other Saturday at Balliol Hall in Church Road, West Huntspill and previous activities have included a magic show and storytelling.
