A new centre for gymnastics has been opened on Weston-super-Mare's Oldmixon estate after three months of building work.

Splitz Gym Club has celebrated its 30th anniversary by moving into its new site in Oldmixon Crescent.

It is now one of the biggest centres for gymnastics in North Somerset, with a range of equipment for acrobatics, tumbling and free running.

Gym owner Sharon Benham said: “It’s a dream come true for me and the club.

“In the 30 years since I started the gym club, it has continued to grow and now we have more than 200 gymnasts – boys and girls – who come every week.

“Having our own gym centre is an amazing opportunity for the children to get maximum training time on specialist equipment.

“It also means we can now offer more places and we have added brand new classes to the timetable.”

The new classes include pre-school gymnastics for children aged up to four.

There are also parkour and tumbling sessions available.
