A CONCERNED Cross resident is appealing for a speed camera to be put up near a dangerous junction on the A38.
A number of serious accidents have occurred at the blackspot and councillors from Compton Bishop, Axbridge and Weare are pressing for something to be done.
The three local authorities have teamed up to put pressure on Somerset Highways to make the junction at Cross safer.
In the meantime, Compton Bishop parish and Axbridge town councillor Chris Byrne is appealing for a speed camera to be put on the road just before the crossroads.
He said: "The positioning of a speed camera at this location would instantly reduce the speed of traffic travelling north and would therefore cut the number of accidents at the junction."
Councillors are hoping for traffic calming measures such as a roundabout or traffic lights to be built at the junction, however Somerset Highways has said there is not enough money for such a major scheme.
Chris Byrne is appealing for people to ring him with their support for a speed camera on 01934 732013, so he can voice their concerns to the authority.
