SOMERSET villages will be getting a Spring clean and tidy over the next few months.
Sedgemoor District Council contacted parish councils to find problem areas and see where workers could make improvements such as clipping hedges, cleaning graffiti or litter picking.
The Clean Sweep initiative was introduced to make areas more presentable, regardless of 'red tape', and clean up land that nobody claims to own.
Council staff will be cleaning on the following days:
* Cheddar- January 22 and 29
* Axbridge, Shipham, Blackford and Mark- March 31
* Wedmore, Mark and Blackford- April 28
* Badgworth and Brent Knoll- May 19
There will also be Clean Sweeps in Burnham and Highbridge in March.
