A family fun day was a ‘huge success’ as people soaked up the sun while listening to live music and playing games in Clarence Park.
St Paul’s Church, in Walliscote Road, welcomed people of all ages to its first party in the park on Saturday.
Organiser Alexander Jones said the church hosts a number of events throughout the year to ‘engage the community’, including the hugely popular 1,100 lights in October – which this year will take place on October 27.
He added: “These events are all about diversity and seeing people from different backgrounds, ethnicity and religions come together.
“The party in the park went really well with around 1,500 people there.
“We wanted to connect with people in the community through this event and show them the church cares about them.”
The party was self-funded and featured games, inflatables and barn dance.
