LIBRARIES across North Somerset will be closed today (Wed) to train staff how to use a new system to check books in and out.

All libraries, including mobile libraries, will be affected with the exception of the Campus at Locking Castle and Backwell library.

Councillor Felicity Baker, executive member for libraries, said: “We appreciate it may cause some problems with our libraries closing for this short time, but we have chosen this day as a number of our libraries are already closed.

“By carrying out training for everyone at the same time it means we can save money. It is also better for the staff as they will all get the same information, in the same way, at the same time.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but hope customers will understand our reasons for choosing to do the training in this way.”

Steps have been taken to ensure no books are due back today and they can be renewed over the phone or online as normal.
