RESIDENTS living near a supermarket say they are losing sleep because the store's lights are shining into their bedrooms all night.People living in Jaycroft Road and Dunstan Road in Burnham say the lamps in the car park at Lidl and the shop's main sign are causing them to have restless nights when they are left on.Gemma Williams regularly stays with her boyfriend Robert Cunningham in Jaycroft Road, but says she has trouble sleeping when she is there.Gemma said: "The lights are so bright I can't sleep. They shine through the curtains and stop me from getting to sleep."Robert's mother Amanda Cunningham says she is unhappy with the way the supermarket's bosses have treated nearby residents. She said: "I think bosses at Lidl have treated residents terribly. They are not socially aware and it is a losing battle."Tom Couchman, who lives in Dunstan Road, says he has experienced problems with the lights shining into his bedroom as well but has had to learn to live with it.The 16-year-old Bridgwater College pupil said: "I sleep at the back of the house and the sign is annoying and a bit bright."It disturbed me to start with but now I've had to get used to it."A Lidl spokesman said: "The regional staff have been aware of a problem. The timer switch was broken."An electrician has been called out and a new switch has been installed. So that should be the end of the problem."The Lidl store in Oxford Street opened last year among some opposition from local residents.
