STRONG winds have been battering North Somerset overnight and several roads are closed this morning after trees have fallen in the paths of motorists.

Debris lies across the streets following further heavy rain and gales and part of Somerset is also on flood watch.

The A37O at Brockley Lane is closed both ways because of a fallen tree and that follows similar incident yesterday afternoon in Worle and Banwell.

Fallen trees have also closed roads in Portishead and Tickenham this morning.
