A worle supermarket hosted a fundraising event this week for cystic fibrosis charity the Ian Ritchie Foundation.

Sainsbury’s, in Queensway, hosted a collection with the help of a member of staff, Dean Sullivan, who transformed into a stormtrooper for the day.

The foundation was created after 25-year-old Ian Ritchie lost a life-long battle with cystic fibrosis in 2015, and Ian’s family were out in support of the event.

A spokesman said: “Dean is a big Star Wars fan so he was asked to do it for charity.

“Ian was local and went to Priory School. Our staff knew him and his family so the charity is very personal us.

“Lots of people stopped for photographs and we were grateful for any donations.”

Sainsbury’s raised more than £600 for the foundation, which is the store’s charity of the year and more fundraising events are planned in the coming months.
