A teenager has been rescued from a cliff edge near Birnbeck Pier this afternoon (Tuesday).

The coastguard and police were involved in rescuing the ‘stranded’ teenager.

Because of the dangerous position he was in and worries over his safety, a coastguard helicopter was used to winch him to safety.

Avon Fire and Rescue, paramedics and beach rangers were all involved in the rescue.

A Weston coastguard spokesman said: “This highlights the very real danger of climbing cliffs in the area.”

Avon and Somerset police said the teenager ‘soon regretted trying to be Spider-Man’.
