FIFTY street lights in Weston will be replaced starting from next month.

As part of the council’s energy-saving drive, the new aluminium lights will use environmentally-friendly bulbs which dim by 50 per cent between 8pm and 6am.

Replacing the old concrete structures will cost North Somerset Council £105,500.

Work will be carried out in Ashcombe Road, Baker Street, Alfred Street, Orchard Street, Knightstone Road, Walliscote Road, Station Road and Station Road Approach between October and January 2012.

Access to homes and shops will not be disrupted.

People living near lights due to be replaced will be sent a letter detailing when work will take place.
