MORE than 50 people have been helped this summer thanks to the sterling efforts of volunteers on board Weston's Streetsafe Bus.Visitors to the bus can now also benefit from the help of St John Ambulance members who have rejoined the team, which might save them a trip to hospital. The big orange bus, which parks up in front of the Grand Pier on weekend evenings, acts as a haven for late night revellers who are injured, unwell or need advice. This year volunteers have found that individuals who have been helped and their parents have been popping back to the bus to say thank you. This year the project has received extra funding from the Home Office to carry on helping people through September.More volunteers are needed to help with the project, which is based on the highly successful Newquay pilot and is only the second to be set up in the South West.Anyone over the age of 18 can help.
