Strictly Fun Dancing for Weston Hospicecare will return in March next year.

The charity, which is based in Uphill, put on the glittering fundraiser for the first time last year and it is delighted to confirm its return in 2019.

The event was a huge success, raising more than £22,000 for the hospice.

Weston Hospicecare is now looking for couples keen to take part in the fundraiser.

Event organiser Kelsey Dehaney said: “Last year was far more successful than any of us at Weston Hospicecare imagined it could be.

“To raise more than £22,000 for one evening of glamour and fun is fantastic and it wasn’t just the dancers – staff, volunteers and attendees on the night enjoyed themselves.

“Our patients thoroughly enjoyed looking at the photos and watching the event video which makes this event extra special.

“We want to make it even better in 2019 and ensure Strictly Fun Dancing becomes part of the Weston Hospicecare fundraising event calendar.

“We are now looking for prospective couples to take part by becoming dancers in the grand finale next March. If you are interested please get in touch for more information and an application form.”

Strictly Fun Dancing will take place in the ballroom at the Winter Gardens, in Royal Parade, on March 23. The event promises a night of glamour, sequins and fun as 12 couples take to the dance floor to impress a panel of judges.

Due to last year’s success and limited availability for dancers, couples will be asked to apply to take part.

Weekly training sessions will begin at Kewstoke Village Hall, in Crookes Lane, from January 13 for 10 weeks.

Professional dancers Ben Hazell and his dance partner Ali Carter will teach couples a salsa and waltz to perform at the grand finale.

Couples selected to take part will need to pay a £30 registration fee and pledge to raise £500 for the charity.

Anyone interested in taking part in the Strictly Fun Dancing class of 2019, can email kelsey.dehaney@westonhospicecare.org.uk for more information and to receive an application form.

More information about tickets for spectators will be available from the end of January.
