Strike called off at hospital

A 12-HOUR NHS strike, due to take place today (Thursday), has been postponed.
Some employees at Weston General Hospital were expected to head to the picket line over a pay dispute.
Unison wants a one per cent pay rise across the NHS and the lowest paid members of staff to receive the living wage.
Its lead negotiator, Christina McAnea, said: “The two strike days staged by health workers last year have moved the Government to negotiate with the unions. This isn’t a great offer but it addresses some of the key concerns unions have about low pay. In the interest of patients’ safety, unions will now consult members.
“If they choose to reject the proposals, we will move to further industrial action.”
