A GROUP of dedicated Year 10 students from Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College have worked hard raising money to support the Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre in East Huntspill.

They made Christmas cards, gift boxes and tags to sell and the proceeds were used to buy a whole trolley full of food for the animals at the centre.

The students’ efforts were rewarded by a special visit from some of the centre’s staff who brought along some owls.

Jane Thorne, one of the teachers working with the students, said “We were thrilled to be so close to these beautiful birds, the student saw a barn owl, tawny owl and were most impressed by the stunning bengal eagle owl.

“We really enjoyed the visit from the centre, especially at such a busy time of year for them.”
