NEARLY 40 young Weston dancers emerged from a regional championship with a clutch of honours this week.

Weston Youth Dance Company sent a sizeable team to compete in the Southern Classic Cheerleading and Dance Competition in Brighton - and were rewarded with seven top four places, including one first.

A spokesman for the group, which includes members from seven to 21, said: "The group received a grant from the Youth Opportunity Group, without which we would not have been able to achieve such good results.

"After lots of hard practice every Saturday morning their commitment and dedication paid off.

"The girls are now practicing for their next competition at Telford in April, which takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the members and families who support them.
