A YOUNG girl from Weston has decided to turn her hobby into a fundraising venture for charity.
Athina Michael, aged 9, has been busy weaving loom bands to sell for charity.
So far, the budding young businesswoman has raised more than £100.
She is not stopping there and has orders piling up with plenty of eager customers ready to buy her bands.
Loom bands have been taking the country by storm and Athina spotted an opportunity to raise money for her favourite charity, Weston Hospicecare.
She said: “I wanted to do it so the hospice can help people to feel better. They looked after my granddad and I want to say thank you for everything they did.”
Athina hopes when she’s a bit older she can carry on supporting the hospice by volunteering in one of their shops.
She said: “I love clothes and like choosing people’s clothes. Maybe I could offer a personal shopping service.”
Gill Auden, CEO at Weston Hospicecare, said: “
“We are thrilled to see someone so young doing something she loves for charity. Thank you Athina, we look forward to having them in the hospice.”
