Volunteers wanted for Summer Reading Challenge

PUBLISHED: 10:00 21 April 2018

North Somerset libraries are looking for volunteers to take part in this year's summer reading challenge.

The 2018 challenge, which encourages children aged four to 11 to read outside of school, will see the Reading Agency and libraries working alongside the Beano for the topic Mischief Makers.

Volunteers are needed to help children choose books and hand out stickers and other rewards.

Help is needed at the For All Healthy Living Centre on Weston’s Bournville estate, The Campus in Locking Castle, and Weston, Worle, Winscombe and Yatton libraries.

Councillor Felicity Baker, North Somerset’s executive member with responsibility for libraries, said: “If you have a few hours to spare and are enthusiastic about encouraging children to enjoy reading, we would love to hear from you.”

People do not need prior experience of working in a library, and the closing date for applications is June 11.

To volunteer, contact library.volunteers@n-somerset.gov.uk or 01934 426657.
