A new support group has been set up to support people in Weston affected by blood cancer.

The Bristol/WSM Haematology Support Group is a new initiative set up by Leukaemia Care, a national charity which offers advice to people suffering from the illness.

Nickey Bate, who organises Leukaemia Care’s support groups, said: “This new support group is a great opportunity for patients and their loved ones to meet others in a similar situation.

“We’re looking forward to the ongoing development of the Bristol/WSM support group.”

Leukaemia Care offers a 24-hour helpline, nurse education days and carer conferences to support both patients and their families.

The charity also publishes accredited cancer literature and information booklets.
