A TRIP to lavender fields in Somerset was enjoyed by members of North Somerset Macular Disease Society Support Group.

The group was given a 500 grant from North Somerset Council and some of this money was used to fund the trip, minibus transport and a pub lunch.

Many enjoyed soaking up the scents of more than 100 types of the flower at Somerset Lavender in Faulkland.

The support group, which meets at Weston’s St Saviours Church in Locking Road, was set up five years ago, and offers help to blind and partially sighted people who suffer from the eye disorder, which causes a loss in central vision.

It relies on grants and this money is spent on trips out, meetings and guest speakers.
