A WESTON woman swam five kilometres to raise more than £550 for charity.

Becky Travers, aged 28, swam the challenge at Churchill Sports Centre in an hour and a half to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

She said: “I was really pleased by how much I raised as I was aiming for about £200.

“The last 100m got quite difficult, but my friends and family were cheering me on and one of my friends jumped in to swim the last 30m with me.”

Becky, from West Wick, trained a few hours three days a week to prepare for the swim.

She said: “I chose to raise money for Weston Hospicecare because I work at Weston General Hospital and so know the good work they do for people.”
