FUND-RAISERS aged from six to 93-years-old put more than just a toe in the water for the annual Portishead Swimathon.More than 200 people packed into the Parish Wharf Leisure Centre for the annual event which is organised by Portishead Rotary Club.Groups of 30 swimmers at a time took to the water in seven different sessions throughout the day to complete the challenge which totalled 4,175 laps being swam.Rotary Club spokesman Len Jenkins said: "It was a very successful event which was enjoyed by everyone. The youngest competitors were three tots aged just six years old while the most mature was a valiant lady of 93."We anticipate the event raising more than £8,000 with the money going to local charities and schools projects.
