TOWN and parish councils should spend a few pennies on taking over responsibility for toilets and other community facilities. These are the views of North Somerset and Weston town councillor Richard Tucker.Cllr Tucker says liability for facilities like parks, recreation grounds, play areas and public toilets should be delegated to towns and parishes. He said: "Currently the vast majority of services are carried out by the larger district or unitary authority. "North Somerset Council has to cover everywhere from Weston to Portishead and across to Blagdon and Winford. "The local town and parish councils are far better placed to concentrate on detailed delivery of service on a number of the facilities within their areas. "The devolution of powers and services down to the more local level is a welcome Government policy and something we should be practising here in North Somerset.
