A six-year-old girl is appealing for people to donate to Weston’s foodbank to help families in the area who are struggling.

Taylor Royce, who attends Worlebury Primary School, came up with the idea on her own and her parents are holding a collection so she can hand over the donations to the foodbank.

Taylor said: “My mum and dad have told me about the less fortunate people in our country and community so I decided I wanted to help.

“I am a very fortunate little girl who has a family who can provide these simple yet important things to me, but I feel we must work together as a community to help others.”

Items the foodbank regularly needs include tinned food such as tomatoes, potatoes and vegetables, soup, ravioli and spaghetti.

Long-life milk, biscuits and snacks and tinned rice pudding are also welcomed.

Taylor is asking people to take donations to Worlebury Golf Club, in Monks Hill, on April 29 from 2-3.30pm.
