A 17-YEAR-OLD has been charged by police following an aggrevated burglary in Weston-super-Mare earlier this month.

The Mercury reported how a man attempting to enter a house in Cecil Road pointed a gun at one of the homeowners after she caught him in the act, before making off empty handed shortly after 4am.

A second man was accosted by police who were still in the area several hours after the initial incident, following a call about suspicious activity in the area at around 6am.

The teenager has now been charged with aggrevated burglary, in which electrical goods, keys, cash, jewellery and alcohol were stolen. They will appear at Bristol Crown Court next month.

A 20-year-old who was arrested on the roof of the Alexandra Parade Post Office on the day of the two incidents remains on police bail, regarding both burglaries.
